Title: |
Security key is not connected
|
Situation: |
ReWaRD displays the message "The security key is not connected"
when run. This is usually caused because the device driver needed
to communicate with the parallel port has not been installed or
the computer's parallel port mode is not set properly.
|
Solution: |
Download and install the latest HASP Device Driver from Aladdin
Knowledge System's website (www.aks.com):
- Go to Aladdin's Support and Download page for end-users (www.aladdin.com/support/hasp/hasp4/enduser.asp)
- Locate and click on the hyperlink for downloading the "Win32
HASP Device Driver GUI Installation Utility" (HDD32.zip,
min size 2.5MB)
- Save the file in a temporary folder on your hard disk
- Open the downloaded zip file and extract the program HDD32.exe
to the same folder as above
- Run the program HDD32.exe and follow its on-screen instructions
- When prompted, choose a "Typical Installation"
- If prompted to do so, re-boot your computer
- Run ReWaRD to check that communication with the security has
been established
If this does not solve the problem, check that the computer's parallel
port mode is set properly:
- Re-boot your computer
- During the re-boot process, access the computer's BIOS setup/control
program by pressing the appropriate keys on the keyboard (the
exact keys to press depend on the particular BIOS installed on
your computer)
- Find the setting for the Parallel Port Mode and change it to
"Bi-directional"
- Save the changed settings and re-boot the computer
- Run ReWaRD to check that communication with the security has
been established
