ICE Scottish Geotechnical Engineering Group - Eurocode 7 second generation update (November 2024)
Part 1 of the first generation of Eurocode 7 for geotechnical design was introduced 20 years ago with part 2 published a few years later. Since then, Eurocode 7 has been part of the Eurocode set of design standards for building and civil engineering works, developed by European Committee for Standardisation (CEN). Eurocode 7 has been undergoing major improvement and reorganisation with a new part 3 (Geotechnical structures) being added to the suite of standards.
Drawing on his experience as past chair of CEN/TC 250/SC7 – the committee responsible for Eurocode 7 - Dr Andrew Bond will provide a general overview of the second generation of Eurocodes, as well as discuss some of the main changes and innovations that have been incorporated into Eurocode 7.

AGS Groundwater Conference (November 2024)
We need to talk about groundwater
The need to consider the impact and effect of groundwater during all stages of the design and construction process is of paramount importance for almost all construction and building projects. Taking place on 6th November 2024, this conference is aimed at attendees involved in construction projects from concept and planning through detailed design to construction and is not solely for geotechnical engineering specialists.
Speakers at thew conference include:
- Dr Andrew Bond (Geocentrix)
- Will Capps (Lucion Delta-Simons)
- Steve Wilson (EPG)
- Len Threadgold (Geotechnics)
- Dr Stephen Thoma (OGI Groundwater Specialists)
- Chris Raison (Raison Foster Associates)
- Dr Majdi Mansour (British Geological Survey)
- Clive Everett (NHBC)
- Dr Martin Preene (Coffey Geotechnics)
- Stephen Walthall (Retired Engineering Geologist)
